Read a supplement label without guessing.
Use the original label to organize information and prepare focused questions for a qualified health professional.
Start with the serving information.
A Supplement Facts panel lists ingredients and amounts per serving. Check the serving size and keep every amount with its unit before comparing labels.
Read the full label.
Look at other ingredients, warnings and directions as well as the Supplement Facts panel. Keep a copy of the complete label for a conversation about medicines, other supplements and your circumstances.
Make your questions specific.
Identify the exact ingredient, unit, serving basis or warning you want explained. A larger number on a label does not establish that a product is appropriate for you.
